Adam Brack knew early in life he wanted to teach. He began his professional teaching career in the golf business at the ripe age of 16 at the Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. His passion and
natural instincts for the game, along with a hardy work ethic, drove Adam to pass the PGA players’ ability test by the age 19. Adam taught his first professional golf lesson at the age of 20.
Relocating to Panama City Beach, Florida in 1999 to work as golf professional at Marriott’s Bay Point Resort, Adam began sowing the seeds to become an important addition to the professional golf community. His calm, easy to understand demeanor captured the hearts and games of a large percentage of the membership and guests of the resort.
At Hombre Golf Club, Adam worked alongside Martin Green, and was the Director of Instruction for the Top 25 golf schools by Golf Magazine in the nation. After 4 years of such honors, Adam was ready to go out on his own.
In 2005, Adam took over the golf academy from Martin, and created The Academy at Hombre Golf, by Experiencing Better Golf with Adam Brack. The academy has added an all-weather learning center with two hitting bays, video analysis center, launch monitor, classroom and offices.
Adam has fitted tour pros, collegiate champions, low handicappers, advanced students and dozens of amateurs who all have improved their play by having their equipment fit properly. The most fundamental element in any instruction is starting with a level playing field, and in order to start there, every golfer has to have clubs that fit his or her personal body dimensions. Stressing the importance of club fitting to each golfer, Adam was awarded through his knowledge and technical expertise a Master Club Fitter, for Henry Griffitts Golf, one the most progressive and accurate club makers in the world.
"If you walked a mile wearing shoes 2 sizes too small, you could do it, but it would be hugely uncomfortable and could do long-term damage to your feet. Having the wrong fitted clubs can do long-term damage to your golf game, for the player must always compensate to hit the ball squarely."
Adam further extends club fitting and club measurement with his on-site frequency and loft and lie machines. He also offers his students free evaluations of their equipment on a regular basis. As golfers progress and age, their clubs need to keep up with the rest of their natural growing process which can mean adjustments over time to keep the club to continue to help the player. Hand size and grips go hand in hand, and Adam offers new grip technology and personalized re-gripping services as part of his club fitting protocol.
To further entice and provide a simpler way for kids take up the game, Adam invested and was then certified in SNAG golf. SNAG, or Starting New At Golf, is a golf coaching system in which students of all ages learn the game by starting a putting stroke with a large, oversized golf club, developed specifically for this purpose. Students then progress to a similar-sized club that has more loft, to introduce the dynamics of striking down on a ball to make it fly into the air. With color coded clubs, engaging swing and aiming aids, SNAG fills the need to articulate the simplicity of the game and visually instructs the player to strike the ball with a consistent and repeatable swing.
In 2005, Adam introduced U.S. Kids Golf equipment to young golfers and became a advocate for Junior Golf in the Panama City Beach area. He began his Junior Tour in Spring of 2009 and it continues to grow in participants each year. New friendships are also made by kids from all ages in Adam's Summer Junior Camps. From age 5 and up, kids receive instruction at their own speed and interest. Each camp ends with a golf tournament in which parents are challenged to be their children's coach and caddy as they make their way around a specially set-up course on the beautiful fairways of Hombre Golf Club.
As newer players advanced into regular USGA golf, Adam instituted a computer ball analyzer called "3Trak", employing high speed cameras and computer mapping, which illustrates an actual golf ball in flight. Three Trak measures the ball's spin rate, distance, flight characteristics and launch angle. This technology is ideal for supporting club fitting, swing adjustments and ball type in easy-to-comprehend graphic animations in real time; capturing and providing any golfer with the most useful information. 3Trak delivers tangible proof to the golfer, who can take the information and process it easily by understanding the cause and effect of swing flaws, body motion and ill fitting clubs.
Adam continues his professional commitment to learning golf instruction from the best in the business. In 2007, Bobby Clampett, former US Amateur Champion, PGA tour pro and popular CBS golf commentator, awarded Adam his certification in The Impact Zone, Bobby's golfing technique that focuses how to properly strike the ball, from putting to driver.
Unlike most instruction that caves in to the long ball concept that amateurs believe is the heart of the game, The Impact Zone starts with putting, then the shorter irons, followed by long hybrids or metal woods, then driver for all the right reasons.
By developing a short, controlled putting stroke and then taking it wider to each iron in descending order, a compact, stress-free, full swing will be the result, with golfers finding better contact and more control that will lower handicaps immediately while prolonging their physical ability to play. Adam's approach to the swing takes away some of the stress on the lower back by teaching the student to use the core of his or her strength and creating natural torque which is the secret to an easy, powerful golf swing. He has found the secret to a sound golf game is consistency with the bottom of the swing, also known as the impact zone. The second part that is vital, is the follow through. The Finish should be balanced on the forward leg with the hips and chest facing the target, the right arm being more across the chest instead of instead of in front of the mouth of the player.
Yes! Putters, another progressive club maker, certified Adam to fit his students with the most advanced putter design in golf. Yes! Putters combine a comprehensive putting stroke advancement technique with a grooved face design that creates forward spin on the ball, eliminating the bounces and skids that most putters exhibit off the club face.
Yes! has awarded Adam with a full line of their patented “c-groove” cut face putter designs and offers many design variations to suit every golfer's specific look and feel of their putter.
Adam takes his knowledge on the road as well. By making commitments to instruct our armed forces around the globe as well as around the corner, Adam brings his arsenal of instruction to bases in Japan and throughout the US.
In his home town of Panama City Beach, Adam works with the Special Naval Operations on a weekly basis, helping our servicemen and women enjoy a respite from the rigors of deep sea diving or underwater search and rescue. He makes sure Fighter Jocks from Tyndall Air Force Base hit their approach shots as accurately as their high speed landing approaches.
‘Women's Happy Hours’ brings the fairer sex together and provides a stress-free, friendly atmosphere that starts with easy fundamentals and progresses to the group's abilities. Afterwards, a friendly competition and their favorite beverages takes the pressure off newbies and provides a safe environment for learning and enjoying the game of golf while providing a means to meet other women who are interested in the game.
To further develop interest in the game, Adam offers a number of golf schools beyond the one-on-one lesson plan. Three- and four-day corporate schools are formulated as a comprehensive teaching block that brings together business teams for some mutual instruction and friendly gamesmanship.
Men’s and corporate schools take an advanced, three- or four-day immersion into each participant’s individual swing in a friendly and competitive environment to test the golfer's new abilities in actual course exercises. Taking lessons from the teaching bay to the golf course allows students to fine tune and correct problems in real time, eliminating the what-ifs that most golfers have after taking lessons in a closed environment. Adam and his staff follow each student, hole by hole, and make corrections in set up, ball flight and course management, leading to lower scores and a higher level of on-course confidence.
All lessons, schools, and camps are available to register on line and provide a focused experience that is practical, cost conscience and allows golfers from 4 to 84 to Experience Better Golf with Adam Brack.
